Rev. Dr. David A. Escobar Arcay was born and raised in Ponce, Puerto Rico (United States Commonwealth in the Caribbean). Having attended and graduated from the public schools in the Caribbean island, he was then educated in the Unites States. He has served as a teacher, principal, United States Citizenship instructor, community college English as a second language and bilingual educator and university professor. He has taught at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, Calvin Theological Seminary, Claremont School of Theology-DSF, Western Theological Seminary, Trinity International University-Florida, South Florida Bible College and Theological Seminary among others and in many countries. Taught courses in English as well as Spanish include the following: Systematic Theology I & II, Theology Survey, Theology for Ministry, Church History (Ancient Church to the Reformation and Post-Reformation to Global Christianity), History of Christianity, Survey of Church History, Christian Ethics, The Pentateuch, Pauline Epistles, Educational Ministry of the Church, Introduction to Theological Studies, Christian Apologetics, The Christian Worldview, Church Leadership and Administration, Leadership Development and Teología Hispania (Hispanic Theology).
Dr. David A. Escobar Arcay is presently studying for a Ph.D. in Divinity (Systematic Theology) at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, United Kingdom. Dr. Escobar Arcay’s reading and research interests include the following: the Christian doctrine of God, pneumatology, theologies of retrieval, theological interpretation of Scripture, the intellectual and moral virtues, Reformation and Post-Reformation theology and history, modern Protestant theology, Christian/religious education, the leadership of pastor-theologians, the Christian intellectual tradition and theology and culture (modernity and postmodernity).
Dr. David A. Escobar Arcay is a highly passionate believer in the power of education to enhance the human condition, improve society for the disadvantaged and equip the church. He has served and collaborated with students from all walks of life and in diverse educational and ecclesial settings. He has served the church as a Sunday school teacher and local church Bible institute instructor while occasionally preaching, teaching and speaking to diverse audiences and congregations. Dr. Escobar Arcay is an Assistant Pastor of Education and Theologian-in-Residence at Hope Chapel, Miami, FL. Dr. Escobar Arcay is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church in America.
